AdvaMed Statement on Israel-Hamas Conflict

Association Creates Resource to Help Provide Aid to Patients in the Region

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, AdvaMed, the Medtech Association, released the following statement by President and CEO Scott Whitaker:

“On Monday last week, I addressed the MedTech Conference and expressed our profound sadness and concern regarding the Hamas attacks in Israel. And today, I want to reiterate that message.

“Our hearts are heavy for the loss of life that has resulted from the terrorist attacks in Israel.

“As an industry, we condemn terrorism and hate in any form. Our hearts are with the people of Israel and everyone who has been affected by these tragic events. Our prayers are with the innocent people in the region, both Israelis and Palestinians, as well as with leaders around the world as they navigate what is sure to be a difficult path back to peace.

“Our thoughts are also with the medtech community in Israel and the broader region. The ongoing operations of medtech companies are certain to be negatively impacted by the conflict. Our industry worldwide stands ready to support those companies and employees who need our assistance.

“We understand how difficult and emotional the events of the past week have been. Through this time of pain and suffering, it is essential that we as an industry come together and support our employees and the patients who will be impacted by this tragedy.

“As this conflict continues to unfold, it is critical that the medical supplies and humanitarian aid necessary to help alleviate the suffering of so many people are delivered to the region quickly and safely. We are working with the Biden Administration and our partners in Europe and the Middle East on how best to accomplish this.

“In the days ahead, we will stand firmly behind our industry’s mission to ensure every patient receives the lifesaving care they need.”

AdvaMed launched a webpage with resources for those seeking to provide humanitarian and/or medical assistance to those in need in the region.
