Diverse organizations are more effective & have more successful outcomes for shareholders. In addition, the great resignation is impacting medtech as an industry; there is a very real need to make medtech the industry of choice for all women. This free panel discussion will highlight diverse women voices at multiple points in their medtech career to bring a multi-generational perspective to the challenges and opportunities for increasing representation of historically underrepresented and marginalized groups in medtech.

This conversation will follow up on a dynamic discussion held at The Medtech Conference with Black and Hispanic executives exploring the challenges and opportunities for increasing representation of historically underrepresented and marginalized groups in the industry. The panel will be followed by networking discussions on effectively fostering diverse talent & creating an environment of inclusion. 

Panelists

Camille Chang Gilmore, MBA

Vice President, Human Resources and Global Chief Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer, Boston Scientific

Camille Chang Gilmore is the Vice President of Human Resources (HR) and Global Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer for Boston Scientific. She oversees HR strategies, health equity, community, and diversity, equity and inclusion programs for the company’s $11 billion global business. Prior to joining the medical device industry in 2004, Camille held roles at Federal Express, Exxon Chemical Company and IBM.

Among many top honors, Camille was named one of DiversityGlobal magazine’s 2020 Top 10 Influential Women in Diversity and Black Enterprise magazine’s Top Executives in Corporate Diversity in 2019. She is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and earned an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Angelique Johnson

Chief Executive Officer, MEMStim  

Dr. Angelique Johnson is CEO & Founder of MEMStim LLC, a company that produces implantable electronics to treat neurological disorders. With a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, she has produced many patents, acquired funding from the NSF, and received millions in prestigious & highly competitive SBIR awards from the NIH. Dr. Johnson’s expertise is sought out at the highest levels, including the US House of Representatives Small Business Committee. She has served as a speaker for the eighth district of the Federal Reserve, the Royal Academy of Science International Trust; the International Chamber of Commerce; and the United Nations Assembly on Women and Girls in Science. She lends her leadership to the Standing Council, NSF Engineering Research Visioning Alliance; the KY Statewide EPSCOR Committee; the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering SBIR; the NSF NNCI External Advisory Board and Medtech Color.

Combining her passion and her expertise in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr. Johnson founded Vissionaireum– an organization that promotes, trains, and equips under- served entrepreneurs to achieve their God given visions. She has been featured prominently in reputable media outlets including NBC Universal; National Public Radio, in The Root news site; Louisville Insider, and Business First Magazine.

Ravyn Miller

Vice President, Portfolio Strategy and Business Development, Medtronic

Ravyn Miller is a health care professional with a passion for people, impact, and equity. As the Vice President for Medtronic’s Defibrillation Solutions Portfolio Strategy and Business Development Growth team, she is responsible for creating and executing strategies that accelerate technology and patient access. In previous roles at Medtronic, she led global product launches, helped shaped reimbursement policies and increased health equity for women and people of color. Ravyn is also an active member of the African Descent Network which recruits, engages and develops Black talent. Prior to Medtronic, Ravyn was a Sales Representative with JNJ in Houston, TX and Nashville, TN.

Ravyn has earned company recognitions, such as the Marketing Excellence Award and is a two-time Star of Excellence recipient. In 2107, she was recognized by Diversity Inc. as one of the Top 100 Emerging Leaders Under 50 and in 2019, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal named her as a Women in Business Honoree, which recognizes 50 of the region’s most influential women in business and community. Beyond work, Ravyn serves on the Board of Directors for Be the Match and sits on the Advisory Board of the following organizations: Marani Health, National Minority Quality Forum and the University of Minnesota’s Venture Center Business Advisory Group. Ravyn earned a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a dual Master of Business Administration and Divinity from Vanderbilt University. She is an ordained minister and a self-proclaimed “brunch enthusiast”.

Dr. Charisse Y. Sparks, FAAOS

Chief Medical Officer, Applied VR

Charisse Y. Sparks, MD, is a proven executive medical device leader who is also a passionate  advocate for DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion .) Dr. Sparks holds an MD degree from the  University of Kansas School of Medicine, completed her Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at  Harvard University School of Medicine, is Board certified by the American Board of  Orthopaedic Surgery, is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS)  and licensed to practice medicine in six states.  

In her role as Vice President for Medical, Clinical and Pre-Clinical Affairs at DePuy Synthes,  The Orthoapedics Company of Johnson and Johnson, Dr. Sparks provided deep medical  insights to Trauma/Craniomaxillofacial (CMF)/Biomaterials teams to accelerate innovation,  create value, and ensure safety for patients and customers.  As the Chief Medical Officer of AppliedVR Dr. Sparks continues to accelerate innovation  through collaborations with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, commercial and Health  Economics & Market Access (HEMA) colleagues to market access and commercial strategies  for new and existing products, monitoring patient safety, and driving solutions to reduce  disparities in access to healthcare solutions. Dr. Sparks sees the opportunity to have an immediate, lasting, and profound impact on patient  care and the health care industry through Medtech innovation and health equity advocacy.  

Dr. Sparks’ career stands on two pillars of success:
