AdvaMed Thanks Senator Rick Scott for Joining Bipartisan Bill to Repeal the Medical Device Tax

Washington, D.C. – Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), issued the following statement on Senator Rick Scott’s decision to co-sponsor S.692, the Protect Medical Innovation Act, which intends to repeal the medical device excise tax.

“As a Florida native myself, I’ve seen firsthand the state’s efforts to create stronger communities through policies that encourage business, innovation and access. Senator Scott’s decision to cosponsor the Protect Medical Innovation Act is a welcome addition to Florida’s track record of pro-health, pro-growth leadership.

“As he said, eliminating the medical device tax will help Florida medtech businesses thrive and safeguard nearly 21,000 Floridian jobs, not to mention nearly 2 million jobs across the country.

“We thank Sen. Scott for his support and look forward to working with him to prevent this looming tax increase on Americans’ health care.”
