AdvaMed Comments on Proposed CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids
On April 11, AdvaMed submitted comments to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on its proposed updates to the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain (now called the “CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids–United States, 2022”). First published in 2016, these voluntary guidelines provide recommendations for clinicians who provide pain care, including those prescribing opioids. In this comment letter, AdvaMed urged CDC to recognize the critical role evidence-based and FDA-approved/cleared devices can and should play in improving pain management and reducing opioid-related harms.
