Whitaker: “We look forward to working with the White House on policies that would unleash even more innovation tapping into the full potential of AI to help make America healthy again.”
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of AdvaMed, the medtech association, issued the following statement on the White House’s “America’s AI Action Plan”:
“We share the White House’s goal to lead the world in AI development in order to improve Americans’ quality of life and drive domestic economic growth, and we thank President Trump for his leadership on this.
“AI in health care already is transforming lives, with earlier, faster, and more accurate diagnoses, sparing patients unnecessary procedures and saving them and the health care system time and money. A recent groundbreaking study found that AI led to a 29 percent increase in early breast cancer detection. That is truly remarkable. And there is much more to come from medtech.
“We look forward to working with the White House on policies that would unleash even more innovation tapping into the full potential of AI to help make America healthy again.”
The FDA recently updated its list of FDA-authorized products using AI, and the number has grown quickly to more than 1,200. For more on policies that support AI innovation in health care, please see AdvaMed’s AI Policy Roadmap.
