Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) are becoming an increasingly important part of the provider landscape and offer large potential for medtechs. In fact, ASC related revenues and spending are expected to grow 6-8% p.a. overall through 2027, with higher growth rates in emerging ASC specialties like cardiovascular and orthopedics. However, they have also been a challenging customer segment for medtechs to serve due to unique clinical, economic, and decision-making dynamics.
In this webinar, L.E.K. Consulting discusses key themes and implications from their 2024 ASC Insights Study, leveraging data from a ~150 respondent survey of ASC physicians and administrators, learnings from ASC-focused projects with hundreds of interviews, in-depth reviews and syntheses of published data, analysis of CMS claims data, and longitudinal comparisons to L.E.K.’s 2020 ASC Insights Study.
Medtechs can no longer afford to lack ASC strategies given their increasing importance to growth, and L.E.K. discusses how medtechs can succeed in this market.

Jonas Funk is a Managing Director and Partner in L.E.K. Consulting’s Chicago office focused in the Medtech and Life Sciences industries.
Jonas has been published in leading academic journals as well as national newspapers and has directed hundreds of consulting engagements, primarily focused on growth strategy and M&A support.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Carleton College.
Nathalie Herman is a Managing Director and Partner in L.E.K.’s Atlanta office focused on Medtech.
With a specific focus on medical devices and dental, Nathalie advises clients across pricing and launch excellence as well as M&A, growth strategy, opportunity assessment, customer segmentation and more.
Herman holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Wellesley College.
Monish Rajpal is a Managing Director in L.E.K. Consulting’s New York office and leads the Global Medtech practice.
He is a known industry thought leader and co-authors L.E.K.’s ASC Insights Study and annual Hospital Study. Monish previously worked for Medtronic.
Monish has an MS (Johns Hopkins – Computer Assisted Surgery / Medicine) and an MBA (Chicago Booth).
Sheila Shah is a Managing Director focused on Medtech and digital health in L.E.K. Consulting’s Chicago office.
She co-authors L.E.K.’s ASC Insights Study and annual Hospital Study. Sheila’s expert commentary has appeared in Medtech Strategist.
Sheila earned an MBA at Kellogg (Northwestern) and a BA in Economics and Political Science at Barnard College
