AdvaMed Commends Provisions Improving Access To Medtech Innovation In Executive Order By President Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Scott Whitaker, President and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), released the following statement on today’s Executive Order on Protecting and Improving Medicare For Our Nation’s Seniors:

“Today’s executive order is a meaningful step forward in ensuring patient access to the transformational medical technologies that save and improve lives. We thank President Trump, Secretary Azar and Administrator Verma for their work to streamline the CMS coverage process on patients’ behalf.

“This improvement to the coverage process for innovative medical devices, including medtech breakthroughs, will help eliminate the lag that often exists between FDA approval and CMS reimbursement decisions.

“While we are still reviewing the specifics, we look forward to working with the White House, CMS, and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate implementation.”
