Best Interests of the Patient
Medical technology companies serve the interests of patients through beneficial collaborations with health care professionals to advance medical technologies, enhance the safe and effective use of medical technologies, encourage research and education, and foster charitable donations and giving. To ensure that these collaborative relationships meet high ethical standards, they must be conducted with appropriate transparency and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and government guidance. AdvaMed recognizes the obligation to facilitate ethical interactions between companies and health care professionals in order to ensure that medical decisions are based on the best interests of the patient.
Working with nearly 300 in-house member companies, AdvaMed’s Legal Committee advocates for rigorous ethical standards worldwide to facilitate a legal environment that fosters medical technology innovation and timely patient access.
The AdvaMed Board Committee on Ethics and Health Care Compliance leads AdvaMed's ethics and health care compliance initiatives, including advocacy for federal physician payments sunshine legislation and stewardship of the AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with Health Care Professionals.

Medical technologies allow us to live, breath, explore and care for our loved ones. Compliance in the MedTech industry means so much more than adhering to policies and processes. It means laying down the principles for ethical interactions with healthcare professionals, providing access to training on life-saving technologies, supporting independent and continuous education, and building trust with partners and customers.
