The MedTech Conference to Go Virtual for 2020
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The MedTech Conference, powered by AdvaMed, promises to continue its tradition of providing world-class programming for the medical technology community, announcing today that the conference will be an all-virtual experience for 2020, and that its plan to host the conference in Toronto will be pushed to 2022.
“The MedTech Conference is the premier annual gathering of our industry, and it is more important than ever that we show, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, our ability to adapt, move forward, and bring our community together,” said Scott Whitaker, President and CEO, AdvaMed. “The theme of this year’s conference – United by Purpose – has never been more appropriate. While we may be unable to meet in person in Toronto, the show will go on! We'll have all the great opportunities our attendees have come to expect to connect and learn about the key issues that affect our industry.”
“Every challenge is an opportunity, and we are excited that our new virtual model removes travel, time and geography as a barrier for participating in the conference, allowing more people to benefit from our exceptional programming with flexible scheduling options,” said MedTech Conference Co-Chair Caroll Neubauer, executive director, B. Braun of America Inc. “While we are of course disappointed we will not meet in Toronto this fall, we have committed to bringing our conference to that beautiful and dynamic city in 2022.”
“Across Canada, the medtech community has been so enthusiastic to host The MedTech Conference, and I am so pleased it will be coming to Toronto in 2022,” said MedTech Conference Co-Chair Neil Fraser, President, Medtronic Canada. “This year’s virtual event will be the next best thing to being here, and I encourage everyone involved in the health care, medtech and related scientific community to take advantage of this unique educational and networking experience.”
The Virtual MedTech Conference will feature a mix of live and on-demand content available to all registrants, making it easier than ever for medtech professionals, health care providers, regulators, investors and other stakeholders to participate.
Beginning in early September, registrants will have access to on-demand sessions via a virtual conference platform, with new sessions released every week through October 7. In addition, a number of simulcast sessions will be available for viewing from October 5-7, with sessions available on-demand through late October. The conference’s MedTech Connect partnering platform will be open in August so participants can view other users and begin requesting networking meetings.
Conference sessions will include a range of topics designed to appeal to all aspects of the medical technology ecosystem, including early stage investment; regulatory, reimbursement and legal/compliance issues; offerings on digital health, AI and cybersecurity; and key overseas markets such as Europe, China and Brazil. In addition, educational programs and networking opportunities will offer insights on how medtech companies have faced the COVID-19 challenge, lessons learned and how the industry and the world will look moving forward.
