Day 2 of The Virtual Medtech Conference Brings Magic and Innovation
Fireside Chat with Magic Johnson, Live Medtech Innovator Finals Among Day’s Highlights
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Day 2 of The Virtual Medtech Conference, powered by AdvaMed, continues its run of engaging and thought-provoking program offerings tomorrow with an interview with an NBA legend, a competition among cutting-edge start-ups, an in-depth discussion of regulatory issues, and a tribute to an industry pioneer.
Plenary sessions which will be livestreamed Oct. 6 include:
- The Medtech Innovator Finals – Five finalist companies from the Medtech Innovator competition will present to a panel of industry-leading judges and compete for the audience vote to win $500,000 in prizes and the award of Medtech Innovator 2020! The finalists are developing innovations in wearables, robotics, digital therapeutics, remote patient monitoring, and cell therapy for cardiology, pulmonology, mental health, and neurology.
- Fireside Chat with Magic Johnson – NBA Hall of Famer, Olympic Gold Medalist, CEO, investor, philanthropist and visionary business leader, Earvin “Magic” Johnson will sit down with AdvaMed CEO Scott Whitaker for an inspiring fireside chat focused on COVID-19’s impact on sports, business, health care and race.
- CDRH Town Hall – The always popular and informative interactive forum with FDA Center for Devices and Radiological Health Director Dr. Jeff Shuren and his senior device center officers will provide insights into CDRH priorities including the center’s ongoing COVID-19 response.
- AdvaMed Lifetime Achievement Award Presentation – This year’s recipient – former Guidant CEO Ronald “Ron” W. Dollens – exemplifies the American Dream of success through hard work. From humble beginnings he rose to become CEO of a legendary medical technology company which pioneered the development of cutting-edge cardiac devices that revolutionized patient care.
Additional livestream programming available on Day 2 includes sessions on such hot topics as implementation of EU’s Medical Device and In Vitro Diagnostic Regulations, the future of robotic-assisted surgery, and the release of EY’s annual “Pulse of the Industry” report.
