AdvaMed Names Pat Fogarty VP, Assistant General Counsel & Director of Civil Justice Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) today announced that Pat Fogarty has joined the association as vice president, assistant general counsel and director of civil justice policy.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Pat to AdvaMed,” said Chris White, AdvaMed chief operating officer and general counsel. “AdvaMed’s legal department works to advance a transparent, predictable and consistent legal environment, which values innovative health care solutions and patient access to the latest advancements in medical technology. Pat’s extensive life sciences industry, legal and health care experience will further strengthen AdvaMed’s broad-based legal policy work and compliance leadership.

“Pat will lead AdvaMed’s civil justice legal policy work and related stakeholder outreach, which are emerging priorities for medtech innovators and patients who rely on FDA’s safety determinations,” White added.  

Prior to joining AdvaMed, Fogarty served as assistant general counsel and compliance officer at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). Serving in this role since 2016, Fogarty was accountable for general legal and compliance support for the organization, including but not limited to issues surrounding business operations, political law, privacy, conflicts of interest, document retention and antitrust matters.

Fogarty first joined BIO in 2010 as a compliance and contracts specialist, serving in a series of legal counsel roles with increasing levels of responsibility, following a legal internship with the Department of Homeland Security. He holds a B.A. from Virginia Tech and a J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law.
