AdvaMed Welcomes Kim Zimmerman as Senior Vice President, Head of Federal Government Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) today announced that Kim Zimmerman has joined the association as its senior vice president and head of federal government affairs.

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve all witnessed first-hand the importance of medical technology,” said Scott Whitaker, President and CEO of AdvaMed. “AdvaMed has an opportunity to translate this increased public perception into an enhanced innovation ecosystem – but we need the help and support of the government to make it happen. That’s why we’ve hired a new head of federal government affairs, Kim Zimmerman. Kim’s vast Hill experience combined with her health care policy expertise – specifically within the Medicare coverage and reimbursement arena – positions her perfectly for success at AdvaMed. I look forward to watching Kim help shape our advocacy strategy and, ultimately, to seeing how her work drives investment in and access to innovative medical technologies for patients in the U.S. and around the world.”

“Our current health care ecosystem is approaching another inflection point, especially as we navigate lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s the right time to bolster AdvaMed’s government affairs team,” said Greg Crist, Chief Advocacy Officer of AdvaMed. “I know Kim is the perfect person for the job. Her relationships with Congress, her history managing PAC and grassroots projects, and, of course, her dedication to improving patients’ lives will help us be more strategic and more impactful in the months and years to come.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining the AdvaMed team,” said Zimmerman. “I’m looking forward to working with the medical technology industry, government, and the patients we all serve to advance the policies and positions driving innovation in health care.”

Most recently, Zimmerman was Vice President at the American Health Care Association, where she supervised the group’s congressional Democratic lobbying team and led development of the corresponding strategy for outreach and engagement. Prior to her work at AHCA, Zimmerman worked in government affairs at The ONE Campaign, WellPoint, and Cephalon. She also spent four years as Counsel to Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE).

Zimmerman holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Drake University and a master’s degree in public policy from Duke.
