AdvaMed Supports Confirmation of Marilyn Tavenner As Administrator of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Stephen J. Ubl, president and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), issued the following statement today about the expected vote tomorrow in the Senate Finance Committee on the nomination of Marilyn Tavenner to be Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS):

“AdvaMed supports Marilyn Tavenner’s confirmation to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. CMS is a critical agency, and it needs a permanent administrator to lead it during this time of major change. Her deep experience in health care and her record of respectfully working with all the major stakeholders make her an excellent choice to lead CMS. We also commend Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT) for moving forward on Ms. Tavnner’s nomination.

“AdvaMed looks forward to further dialogue with Ms. Tavenner  to make sure that payment and delivery system reforms incorporate safeguards to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate care for their needs and that the process supports continued medical technology innovation.”
