AdvaMed Praises House Passage of 21st Century Cures Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), issued the following statement after passage in the U.S. House of the 21st Century Cures Act:

“Passage of this important legislation is a milestone in improving the innovation ecosystem for medical technology and ensuring the availability of new life-saving, life-enhancing devices and diagnostics for patients.

“AdvaMed commends House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) for their leadership in spearheading the 21st Century Cures initiative. We have long supported their goal of facilitating the development and delivery of new health care treatments and cures in America, and this legislation will go far in achieving that goal.

“We urge the Senate to promptly take action to pass this legislation so that patients everywhere can benefit from the next generation of life-changing innovations.”
