AdvaMed Applauds U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement On Trade

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) issued the following statement from President and CEO Scott Whitaker following the recent signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA):

"AdvaMed applauds achievement of this new, substantially improved trade agreement for North America, and congratulates President Trump and his administration, and the governments of Mexico and Canada, on this historic accord.

“We believe the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement represents a significant step forward in terms of transparency, regulatory fairness and ensuring open access to the markets of all three countries. The agreement includes new provisions that apply to medical devices that will foster greater patient access to the latest medical technology innovations and further regulatory harmonization.

“Following the signing of the text by the leaders of all three nations on the sidelines of the recent G-20 summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, we urge the U.S. Congress and the governments of Mexico and Canada to approve the USMCA as expeditiously as possible.”
