AdvaMed Applauds President's Support of High Tech Manufacturing, Innovation and Small Business Growth

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) released the following statement by Stephen J. Ubl, president and CEO, in response to last night’s State of the Union address by President Barack Obama:

“AdvaMed applauds the President’s support for the growth of high technology manufacturing jobs and the importance of innovation to economic growth in last night’s State of the Union.

“In support of that goal, we urge Congress to act promptly to repeal the medical device excise tax.  America’s medical technology companies are leading the world in the development of innovative, life-saving, life-enhancing medical progress – but that lead is eroding. Repealing the medical device tax would support the bipartisan goal of helping companies large and small reinvest in R&D, hiring or expanding.”
