Chief Advocacy Officer and Head of External Affairs, AdvaMed
JC Scott is the Chief Advocacy Officer and Head of External Affairs for the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed). AdvaMed member companies produce the medical devices, diagnostic products and health information systems that are transforming health care through earlier disease detection, less invasive procedures and more effective treatments. In his role, JC crafts and pursues advocacy strategy for all of AdvaMed’s domestic policy goals, leading the public affairs, government affairs, and third-party ally development functions for the association. This includes leading a team of advocates before the United States Congress, Governors, and state legislatures.
Prior to joining AdvaMed in 2011, JC served as Senior Vice President of Federal Relations of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI). JC has also served in various capacities in the U.S. House of Representatives, including as Deputy Director of Policy for the House Republican Conference, Committee Associate with the Select Committee on Homeland Security, and Legislative Director for former-Representative Deborah Pryce (R-OH). In an earlier period of service on Capitol Hill, JC worked for former-Representative Joe Scarborough (R-FL). JC has also worked as an associate for the law firm of Travis & Gooch, and as a law clerk for the Federal Election Commission.
JC has an undergraduate degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University, and a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center. JC resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, daughter, and their Labrador.
