Overview

During 2017, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies will face a wave of change impacting their businesses, including potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act, changes in US trade policy, tax reform and continued pressure on pricing. Many of these changes are interrelated and the impact to a company should be evaluated in total. This webinar will discuss the accomplishments and progress of the Trump Administration’s first 100 days in office and explore changing trade and tax policy with particular focus on the impacts to supply chains, capital investment and other aspects of operations.

Speakers

Benjamin J. Proce

Benjamin J. Proce is a Lead Tax Partner in the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences sectors. Ben is driven by a strong passion for serving his clients and providing solutions to their most complex business issues. Ben's objectives include an uncompromising commitment to excellence, treating others with kindness and respect, and developing future leaders within PwC.

Ben leads high-performing, multidimensional teams that are focused on bringing value and delivering the highest quality of service to his clients. Ben provides a wide range of services to his clients, including general tax consulting, planning, and federal and state and local tax compliance. Ben also advises his clients on financial-statement-disclosure-related issues, internal financial controls and Accounting for Income Taxes.

Ben is a licensed CPA in New Jersey and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ben is a graduate of Seton Hall University School of Law where he earned the degree of Juris Doctor and St. John’s University where he earned both a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Sciences in Accounting.

Jennifer Parkhurst
Jennifer is a management consulting partner in PwC’s Pharma and Life Sciences Operations practice with over 25 years of experience. Jennifer advises leading life sciences clients of all stages of commercialization and growth including companies about to launch their first products to global firms looking to drive profitability and transform their operations. She focuses on specifically on operational strategy and technology. Jennifer also manages PwC’s global services at some of the firm’s largest pharmaceutical clients.

Before joining PwC, Jennifer was a partner at PRTM Management Consultants. Prior to consulting, she has held various management roles in manufacturing, supply chain, and process development at Eli Lilly. Jennifer received her BS in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences from Northwestern University and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business.

Kathleen Michael

Kathy is a Tax Partner with PwC and has over 30 years of tax experience specializing in serving multinational companies. Kathy is the US Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Tax Leader and is our Florham Park, NJ Tax Practice Leader. She has served major multinationals including Honeywell, J&J, Becton Dickinson and various other pharmaceutical, medical device, and healthcare clients. She advises clients on federal, state, local, and international income tax matters. In her role as a lead tax engagement partner on multinational companies, she has dealt with complex matters such as international restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, as well as tax controversy in various jurisdictions. 

Kathy has extensive experience in accounting for income taxes and has dealt with complex tax accounting issues. She has advised clients on risk in the tax area and controls with respect to SOX 404 compliance. In her role as a lead tax engagement partner, Ms. Michael is responsible for overseeing tax services provided to her clients and overall management of tax teams. She effectively works with the PwC global network and is responsible for coordination of tax services on a global basis with client engagement teams.

In addition, Kathy is actively involved with PwC’s diversity initiatives and currently leads our Metro Women’s Initiatives Committee and was formerly the Diversity Leader in our Florham Park tax practice.

Bernie Student

Bernie is a Principal (Partner) in PwC’s Healthcare Group. Previously, Bernie spent 19 years at PRTM and led the Operations Management consulting practice within PRTM’s Healthcare Business Group. Bernie leads client consulting engagements focused on defining and implementing transformational operational strategies and driving fundamental improvement in manufacturing, supply chain management, and product development, yielding structural improvements in client EBITDA and growth.

Prior to joining PRTM, Bernie worked for General Electric in several operations management and product development roles. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Bernie also holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He is Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by APICS. Bernie is a founder and former member of the Supply-Chain Council Board of Director.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
All cancellations must be received via email to advamedevents@advamed.org. Cancellations received 10 business days or more prior to the start of the program are eligible for a full refund. There will be no refunds for cancellations received less than 10 business days prior to the start of the program, including "no shows". 

We welcome substitutions in lieu of cancellations at any time. Please contact us at advamedevents@advamed.org with the substitute's registration information. All cancellation refunds will be processed within 30 business days from date cancellation request is received.

Topics and speakers are subject to change without notice. AdvaMed reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any program, and the full registration fee will be refunded or applied to the rescheduled program in accordance with the registrant's preference.
