ELIZABETH PIKA JOINS ADVAMED GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
|
Washington, DC – The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) announced today that Elizabeth Pika has been named vice president of government affairs where she will be assisting its efforts to pass legislation to modernize the reimbursement system for state-of-the-art molecular diagnostics and ensure American patients have access to life-saving, life-enhancing medical technology. Pika’s extensive health care policy knowledge and experience includes most recently serving as legislative director for Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) who serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and its Health Subcommittee. In that role, Pika worked on a variety of health care issues related to the FDA and Medicare and also worked to secure passage of legislation focusing on breast cancer screening and paralysis research. “Elizabeth’s in-depth knowledge of the most pressing health care issues and her passion for advocating on behalf of patient access to care will further enhance AdvaMed’s legislative efforts,” said Senior Executive Vice President and Director of Government Affairs Brett Loper. “We are pleased to have her join our team.” Before joining Rep. Baldwin, Pika served as a legislative fellow for Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and worked as a policy analyst for the Social Security Administration. Pika graduated Magna Cum Laude with her bachelor’s degree from Franklin & Marshall College and earned a master’s of public policy from Duke University.
