FORMER HHS SENIOR COUNSEL JOINS ADVAMED PAYMENT TEAM

WASHINGTON, D.C. – AdvaMed today announced the appointment of DeChane Dorsey, a former Senior Counsel with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to the position of Associate Vice President, Payment and Health Care Delivery.

Dorsey’s areas of responsibility at AdvaMed will include: Medicare’s Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), reimbursement for Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC), ophthalmic and physician payment issues.

Prior to joining AdvaMed, Dorsey was the Director of Health Policy for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, where she handled issues affecting coverage and reimbursement for ophthalmology procedures. Her work at the academy included analysis and review of the Medicare physician fee schedule, the inpatient hospital Prospective Payment System and ASC regulations.

Earlier in her career, Dorsey was a Senior Counsel with the HHS’ Office of Counsel to the Inspector General, where she worked on a variety of fraud and abuse issues including enforcement of exclusion authorities, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, civil monetary penalties and compliance monitoring.

She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Syracuse University and a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
